MMOS v0.7.0: Raids, Shapeshifting and Content Packs

Dungeons grow into thirty-player raids, adventurers change shape, and everything you create can be packed up and shared.

0.7 is about the far end of your MMO. Your instances can now become what a whole server organises around, the adventurers running them can change shape to suit the fight, and everything you create can leave your world and turn up in someone else's. If you continue a 0.5.x or 0.6 world, MMOS asks before upgrading it and keeps a backup copy of the original save.

Raids

Place an instance at Large or the new Epic arena size and gather up to thirty adventurers, with quick 10, 15 and 20 presets. Bosses get bigger models, tints, adornments, auras, floating encounter names and an enrage below 30% health, and a seeded three-act raid ships ready to explore. Raids are included in the free demo.

Shapeshifting

Create a shapeshift ability, pick one of five bodies (cat, wolf, bear, bird and demon), tune its stats and grant it to a class. A form lasts until the adventurer drops it or runs out its timer, and adventurers shift on their own when a form suits the moment. It starts with the new Shapeshifting research node.

Content Packs

Export items, classes, monsters, quests, dungeons and raids into a pack file, share it, and import it into another world, and the pack brings along whatever its content needs to work. A new Content Packs window keeps every pack in one place and switches one on or off in a world without deleting what it has already made. Four official packs ship with the game.

New quest types

A Visit objective points at any NPC, town or city you have placed: the adventurer travels there, arrives, then walks back to the giver to turn in. A Profession Work Order names one gatherable or one recipe and a quantity, and only what the adventurer gathers or crafts after accepting counts toward it.

Quest choice rewards

A quest can offer several items and let the adventurer take exactly one, picking whatever suits their class best. The Quests panel was rebuilt around it, and adventurers weigh what a quest truly pays before they accept it.

Combat effects and spell delivery

Ten new tricks for abilities: Leech, Deflecting, Opener, Execution, Silence, Disarm, Charge, Pull, Chain and Terrain. Leech and Deflecting can also be added to gear, and the Ability editor has a new Delivery card for choosing between Direct, Chain and Terrain.

Collections and bulk edits

File items, monsters, abilities, quests, mounts, professions, classes and titles into Collections you name yourself, with a definition free to belong to several. Filter a catalog to one Collection, then use Select to duplicate, delete or re-file many rows at once.

World Views

A Views button switches the map between Normal, Zones, Quests, Factions, Fun and Gatherables: zone scores, live quest markers, faction reach, where fun is coming from, and every gather node pinned above the trees that hide it. Each zone gets a dossier explaining why it scored the way it did.

Also in v0.7.0

  • The MMO Control Room: subscribers, online seats, the login queue, quality and growth read as meters and lamps, with your operator levers beside them and a strip naming the one thing limiting your MMO right now.
  • Pick up and move anything you have placed. Press and hold, the object follows your cursor, R turns it a step, and it keeps its stock, staff, ratings and history.
  • Mob stats and encounter tuning: the Mob editor spells out health, damage and the full ability kit at real levels, and a spawner shows the exact stat range that camp will field.
  • Profession Trainers: decide what each trainer teaches, including a trainer hosted by a single placed NPC with no settlement around them.
  • Homestone: adventurers bind at an inn or a city and channel home once per in-game day, and the building counts the adventurers who call it home.
  • Per-zone map colours, an outline or filled overlay that is remembered between sessions, and save thumbnails so the Load menu shows each world rather than a date.
  • A Hall of Legends in the History tab for realm firsts and first finds, with your own choice of which loot tiers reach the timeline.
  • Customise Sandbox at world creation: more than forty dials across money and servers, players and loyalty, growth, levels and XP, challenge, devoted fans and world events.

Fixes & Improvements

  • Shapeshift forms gained a duration you can set and no longer break nameplate visibility while shifted.
  • Party and raid frames no longer overlap the retention meter, and hover tooltips no longer stick to the screen.
  • Instance spawners match overworld spawners field for field, raids use summon stones as intended, and respawned dungeon trash is fought rather than walked past.
  • Editor previews stay in view while you scroll the controls beside them, and the terrain diorama no longer stutters.
  • Town and city windows contain their own scrolling instead of growing past their close button.
  • Terrain brushes no longer produce wrong grass and dirt edges.
  • Performance work on the auction house, pet rendering and larger worlds.
